Iminta – Connect Your Online Life

Iminta asks the question ‘what are you inta?’. It’s another lifestreaming site, which means that it helps you to collect the information you post on a host of other sites around the Internet. If you post status updates on Twitter or Facebook, add books to Library Thing or save links on Digg or Delicious, then you can include these in your Iminta profile. Iminta supports a wide range of sites for applications, books, discussions, events, games, images, links, microblogging, reviews, songs, stories and video. Although there are other lifestreaming sites that support more, Iminta supports virtually all of the popular places.

All you need to do to get started is add accounts to your profile by inputting your username. Once that’s done, Iminta automatically imports your updates and drops them into the right place on your profile page. On your profile page you can mark updates as favorites, email them, add them to your blog, and comment on them. Since you can make friends on Iminta, it’s a great opportunity to collect all the discussion on a particular item in one place. After a while, you’ll have a lot of content to sort through and this is where Iminta shines. At the click of a button you can see all the updates in a particular category or for a particular site, making it easy to follow only the information that’s most important to you. The site is easy-to-use and looks great too.

Insider Tips

• Once you have added sites to your profile, you don’t have to update Iminta again – your profile updates automatically every time you add something new
• Use groups and permissions to decide which of your contacts can see which updates (you might want to share different items with friends and work colleagues)
• Add items from your friends’ inta list to share them with your network as well
• Use RSS and email to subscribe to all your friends’ updates in a single place

What We Liked

• The ability to filter both your updates and your friends’ updates by site and type is a powerful feature
• There are multiple options for keeping up with friends’ updates and sharing your own

What We Didn’t Like

• We liked everything, but there are a few third-party sites missing that we hope Iminta will support in the future
• It would be nice to be able to add feeds for more than one blog
