LetSimonDecide – Making Decisions for You

ss-letsimondecide

LetSimonDecide is one of the latest developments in the all too stressful decision making process. It’s been compared to Hunch by a lot of people—and there are definitely some similarities. LetSimonDecides basically works like a really smart, well-developed Magic 8 ball.

To use it, you input a bunch of information about yourself, including things about your personality as well as your long-term goals. Next, follow the prompts, choosing which tools you’d like to use (MyScores, MyLifeMatch, or MyPointsofView). Fill out the rest of the information and then wait for the results. Tada! Your decision has been made for you.

While at first the app may seem a bit silly, it’s actually pretty neat. It considers multiple points of view, forcing you to consider factors you might not want to think about, such as long-term goals and cost. At the very least, it’ll get you thinking hard about that decision you might not want to think very hard about. We’re not sure we’d recommend it for terribly serious decisions, but then again, why not? We do miss some community interaction, but overall LetSimonDecide is a fun, interesting web app offering an easy way to make decisions.

Practical Uses:

  • Decide which college you’ll attend next year
  • Pick a name for your new pet tarantula
  • Figure out what sort of new car you should buy

Insider Tips:

  • Select more than one tool for different ways of viewing your problem
  • Check “Resources” for related links
  • Use MyScores—it takes the longest, but it’s the most accurate tool

What we liked:

  • It’s fun and entertaining
  • Considers multiple angles to your problem
  • A good step to thinking through decisions

What we didn’t like:

  • No community interaction
  • Sign up is required just to test out the app
