HitTail is a tool that publishers can use to improve the SEO on their existing websites. By analyzing the traffic on their sites in real-time, HitTail can provide users with specific lists of the keywords they should be using to boost their position in the search results and grow their organic traffic.
Create a HitTail account and embed the provided tracking code on your website. The code silently records search hits and keyword information, and uses this data to suggest specific topics and keywords you should be using more frequently on your site. The keywords and topics that HitTail suggests can be used in your copy, blog posts, or pay-per-click campaigns. Before you get to that point, however, you might be interested in learning more about the visitors who’ve found your site based on the keywords you already use. HitTail lets you see how visitors have found your website in real-time, and lets you re-create the searches people are running to find your home base online.
In addition to providing you with recommendations on which keywords you should be using, HitTail also offers you information about how the keywords you’re already using are performing on a real-time basis. For example, HitTail can tell you how much of your search traffic is coming from the top 10 keywords used on your site, and you can segment that traffic out by search engine to dig even deeper into the data.

Rob Walling (softwarebyrob.com, Microprenuer Academy, Startups For The Rest of Us Podcast) is now the 100% owner of HItail since 2011. He has made some seriously great improvements to the service over the past year. Also the HQ is not in New York, NY as he is in California.
