BabyList – Register For Baby Goods

ss-babylist

When it comes to shopping for baby supplies, it can be hard to find everything you’re looking for in one single store. The situation gets even more complicated when you’re asking people to help pay for services — like meal delivery, doula care, or housecleaning — in lieu of traditional gifts. BabyList is an app that expecting moms can use to design completely unique baby registries.

Once you install BabyList’s bookmarklet tool along your browser toolbar, you can get started adding items to your registry any time you see something that strikes your fancy. When you stumble across a unique or interesting item on an e-commerce site, click the bookmarklet button to immediately add that item to your baby registry. For each item you add, you can enter the number you need (an especially useful feature when registering for things like diapers or onesies) along with a brief note about why you’re requesting that item in particular. When you’re done adding items, send the custom link that BabyList provides to your friends and family and consider your registry complete.

Friends who visit your registry online can click on the items you’ve added to make purchases through the original e-commerce stores. As people purchase gifts from your list, the registry will automatically update and purchased items will no longer appear. As the registry’s creator, you can check back at any time to see how things are progressing, or to add a special note thanking all your friends for their generosity and support.

Practical Uses:

  • Create a baby registry without leaving your home
  • Make sure you get all the necessities before your new baby arrives
  • Register for services, like housecleaning or prenatal yoga classes
  • Let friends buy gifts for your baby shower online

Insider Tips:

  • Users can register for items at any online store
  • Make sure to include your address so friends know where to send gifts
  • Add the BabyList bookmarklet tool to your Firefox toolbar
  • Include a note with each item explaining why that item is important to you

What we liked:

  • The app is completely free for moms to use
  • Expecting parents can register at any store on the web
  • BabyList lets people register for things other than diapers and toys
  • Moms-to-be can continue updating their registries with new items all the time
