Stuck in a rut listening to Taylor Swift songs on repeat? You could take your chances with an online radio station that plays Top 40 hits, or try out Piki to hear what your friends are listening to. Piki is a web-based music application, created by the team at Turntable, that people can use to get music ideas from their friends.
Add your favorite songs to your Piki profile, then find and follow any of your friends who use the app in the same way you’d follow people on Twitter. You can connect Piki to your Turntable, Twitter, and Facebook accounts to make this process easier, or browse through Piki’s recommendations for who you should follow based on the music choices you’ve already selected. Piki will create a custom radio station based on the music that your friends are listening to. You can skip past any songs you don’t like, or click the smiley face icon to give your reaction to your favorites.
The more you listen to Piki, the smarter the web-app becomes. Continue adding genres and artists to your tuner depending on which types of music you’re into right now, and “repick” or add comments to songs to tell other people why you love them (or hate them) so much. Friends who visit your Piki profile page will see a list of your favorite tunes, along with links to your Twitter or Turntable accounts. You can also import your own music, and download Piki’s mobile app to listen to your favorite tunes on the go.
