TripTrace – Where’ve You Been?

TripTrace is a tool that people can use to create their own atlases full of information about where they’ve been and where they want to go. Rather than using TripTrace to find out about new hotspots or nightclubs, users who take advantage of TripTrace’s tools can get directions back to places they’ve already been – such as hotels, airports, and friends houses in faraway cities – and keep track of all the places they’re dying to go in the future.

Enter your email address, choose a username, and type in the code for your most-frequented airport to begin making an atlas of your own. The next step in the process is to answer questions about who you are and what you like to do. TripTrace uses this information to offer better recommendations on what places you should check out in the future. Import the data from your Foursquare, Facebook, and TripIt accounts to help TripTrace quickly populate a list of the places you’ve been, or create a list on your own by checking off boxes next to each city you’ve visited in the past. In addition to creating a list of the places you’ve already been, TripTrace also leaves room for you to add in all the places you’re anxious to see.

TripTrace serves as an excellent place to save future vacation ideas and links, thanks in large part to the web-app’s useful “tripclipper” bookmarking tool. Another unique – and extremely useful – features that TripTrace offers is its “Costimator” tool, which helps people budget for future trips. Using flight information, hotel pricing data, and attraction fees, TripTrace can come up with a general ballpark figure for how much a trip to a certain location will cost. As you start making travel arrangements and begin to find out more specific prices, you can add those updated figures into the Costimator tool for a more accurate estimate.
