Just as the name implies, Tabzon is an application that can help business owners and managers keep tabs on their staff. A web-based take on the traditional in/out boards that many companies have nailed to their office walls, Tabzon makes it easy for front desk clerks to know who’s in the office and who’s out of the office at any point during the day. On top of that, the application offers a handful of features that traditional in/out boards don’t—such as worldwide accessibility, detailed contact information, and security that prevents competitors from peeking in and spying.

To use Tabzon, sign up for a free account and input your company information. Tabzon offers each company a subdomain address, and makes it easy to get each of your employees signed up with a separate account in a matter of minutes. Every employee will be listed on your company’s Tabzon page, along with their current availability and photo. When you get ready to leave the office for a lunch meeting or a client appointment, just open up the Tabzon site and click the green, orange, or red button to inform colleagues of your availability. You can also include a status message to give people more details about where you are going or when you’ll be back. When your colleagues check the page, they’ll see your name and photo alongside a large colored dot indicating whether or not you’re in the office and available to chat.

With Tabzon, it’s easy to create a status message to let people know when you’re working from home and to include updated phone forwarding information that the receptionists should use for transferring calls. At a glance, managers can know where their salespeople are at and when they’ll be back in the office, without having to send out countless emails and text messages. What we didn’t like:

  • Tabzon doesn’t offer any calendars or scheduling features, which would be useful in letting people know when employees aren’t scheduled to be at work
