Goalscape – Visualize Your Goals

Goalscape is a web-app that people can use to identify their goals and work toward achieving them. The difference between creating a visual chart with Goalscape and writing down goals in a spiral bound notebook is that Goalscape actually breaks down each goal into a series of actionable, easy-to-accomplish tasks that are put together in a way that is both visually pleasing and useful. When people follow Goalscape’s plan and stay on track, they’re sure to accomplish their loftiest goals in record time.

Before you can start working toward accomplishing your goals, you need to identify them. Purchase and install the Goalscape desktop app, or register for free to try a trial version of the Goalscape “Connect” system online. Start by creating a central main goal, and then add sub-goals. Keep adding as many sub-goals as you need, until you’ve written down everything that needs to be accomplished in order to reach your one, true, ultimate goal. Each sub-goal can be weighted based on its importance and your progress toward accomplishing it. You can also schedule a deadline for when a particular sub-goal must be met, or set up a timeline for when an entire series of sub-goals needs to be complete. As the number of sub-goals you’ve written down begins to grow, the search function – which allows you to search for keywords within any goal map – will become infinitely more useful. In certain cases, it might make sense to attach a note or a document to a particular sub-goal – such as, in instances where your goal is to complete a manuscript or finish creating a document that’s been in-progress for years.

To let your friends and family members in on your progress, export a snapshot of your personal goal map to post on a website or blog. If you’re using Goalscape for business purposes, you can easily include your Goalscape map in a Power Point presentation. For people who like to visually see how they’re progressing toward reaching life’s major goals, Goalscape is a great solution.

Practical Uses:

  • Take actionable steps to work toward your goal of becoming rich
  • Write down every step that needs to be taken in order to master a new skill
  • Keep track of your progress on your path toward finding the perfect job
  • Accurately predict how long it will take to accomplish your ultimate goal

Insider Tips:

  • Import projects from Basecamp into your Goalscape account
  • Add as many sub-goals as you want, and delete sub-goals with one click
  • Attach documents to any goal or sub-goal
  • Delegate the responsibility for certain sub-goals to other users

What we liked:

  • Users can change the size of a sub-goal to reflect the relative importance
  • People can use Goalscape through the desktop app or on the web
  • Users can track their progress and visually see how far they’ve come toward reaching a goal
  • Sharing goals with friends and family can be done with the push of a button

What we didn’t like:

  • It may not be worthwhile to invest the time in setting up a goal map for smaller goals that can quickly be accomplished

  1. Wow, thanks Stephanie.

In fact the Cloud version, Goalscape Connect (www.connect.goalscape.com), is already available (register for your free trial here: http://www.goalscape.com/register/trial_connect). When you buy the Goalscape Desktop standalone software you also receive a free 6-month subscription to Connect.

Later this year Connect will become an independent product, at which point the subscription will be 9 euro per user per month or 90 euro annually in advance.

    May you achieve great goals!
