Let it Cast – Your Big Break

Have you been looking for a way to break into the acting industry? Unless you live in an entertainment hub like Los Angeles or New York, it can be hard to know where to begin. Let It Cast is a web-app that film, television, and stage production companies are now using to allow actors to audition from the comfort of their homes.

Actors, agents, and casting directors can all use Let It Cast in slightly different ways. Aspiring actors who sign onto the site can get started by clicking on the “Castings” tab and scrolling through the projects that are casting right now. Learn a bit about a production that’s looking for talent, then click on the “Casting Call” tab to review the character descriptions and find out what types of actors the production company is looking for. Each production lists its own instructions for actors who want to audition online. Follow these instructions while filming yourself with a digital camera, then upload your video clip directly to the Let It Cast site. After your clip is uploaded, you can see when it has been viewed by checking out your “Auditions” page. This is the same page where you can read the casting director’s review of your audition. Your agent will be notified each time you audition, and he or she can follow up with the production team to get more detailed feedback and recommendations if you wish.

For casting directors and production teams, Let It Cast is a low cost way to get access to talented actors across the globe. Rather than being limited to the actors in their local communities, independent film and stage productions can get submissions from novice actors who otherwise would not be available to audition for their roles.

Practical Uses:

  • Get noticed by casting directors in Hollywood
  • Submit audition tapes to production companies without leaving your house
  • Audition for a role in a stage production on Broadway
  • Find unknown actors with great skills for the television show you’re producing

Insider Tips:

  • Agents can follow up with directors about their clients’ submissions
  • Actors can see how many times their submissions have been viewed
  • Directors can leave feedback for actors whose submissions could use work
  • All offers on Let It Cast are for paid acting jobs

What we liked:

  • All the information an actor needs to prepare for his audition is available online
  • Users can automatically get access to new roles that fit their profile
  • Independent films can save money by holding casting calls online
  • Let It Cast saves an archive of all of an actor’s auditions over time
