Cloudtact – An Always-Updated Address Book

Cloudtact is a tool that people who are obsessed with details and accuracy can use to ensure the address books on their iPhones, iPads, Androids, laptops, and Gmail accounts never go out of date. Not only that, but Cloudtact can make sure their friends’ address books are never out of date, as well.

Create a profile on Cloudtact to try out the service for free. In creating a profile from scratch, you’ll need to add your name, email address, home phone number, cell phone number, and create a password. Type in the email addresses of any friends, family members, or colleagues you’d like synced to your address book, and Cloudtact will send them automated invitations to join you in using the service. Up next, it’s time to sync your Cloudtact contacts to your mobile phone or associated device. Cloudtact lets you choose from multiple options: Android, iPhone or iPad, or Mac address book. Once you’ve made your choice, you’ll get instruction on how to complete the syncing process on your mobile device. In addition to syncing with the above-mentioned devices, Cloudtact also supports syncing with Yahoo!, Hotmail, and Outlook.

When the inevitable happens and you get a new job or a new home phone number, just update the information on your Cloudtact profile and watch as it syncs across all the address books you’ve linked up. The same goes for any friends who’ve connected with you through Cloudtact; any changes they make to their phone numbers or email addresses will be reflected in all your online address books without any updating necessary on your part.

Practical Uses:

  • Keep your friends updated with your latest email addresses and cell numbers
  • Make sure your address books are updated across all your mobile devices
  • Avoid calling a friend whose number has been disconnected or changed
  • Sync multiple address books at one time

Insider Tips:

  • Cloudtact will share your updated information with people who’ve connected with you through the app
  • Updates should be made immediately when a contact changes his information
  • Android users have to download a special app to use the Cloudtact service
  • Cloudtact integrates with the iPhone as a native address book

What we liked:

  • People who lose their phones or laptops don’t have to worry about losing their address books at the same time
  • Contact information will be synced automatically if you buy a new phone
  • Cloudtact users don’t have to email their colleagues each time their email addresses change
  • People can spend less time updating contact information across all their mobile devices

What we didn’t like:

  • Cloudtact only updates contact information for people who’ve connected through the site, as opposed to everyone in a user’s address book
