StatusCake – Powerful Website Monitoring

ss-statuscake
StatusCake has developed a global website monitoring solution that alerts users immediately when downtime is detected on their sites. Rather than simply sending these alerts via email, which can easily be overlooked, StatusCake takes a more-is-more approach with SMS, push notifications, and third-party app integrations to ensure that important updates are never missed.

StatusCake’s interface is easy for new users to understand. Just enter your credentials, and StatusCake will immediately start monitoring your website for performance issues. StatusCake uses an internal system it calls “SureAlert” to decrease instances of false positives by automatically confirming downtime issues with several servers in the same location before issuing any alerts. Performance tests encompass all aspects of your website, including total load time with images, style sheets, and all website content. For websites that run on HTTPs, StatusCake will also check the validity of certificates and issue warnings when those certificates are close to expiring.

Public reporting tools enable publishers to share their data with customizable groups, even going so far as to add their own logos, color choices, and Twitter streams to their public reporting groups. StatusCake also integrates with a number of popular third-party services, including Zapier, PagerDuty, Geckoboard, and Librato.

Practical Uses:

  • Receive an SMS message whenever your website is down
  • Find out about a malware infection on your website
  • Create public reporting groups that list the websites you select
  • Monitor IMCP ping responses

Insider Tips:

  • Performance times reflect all aspects of a website
  • StatusCake will send an alert if security concerns are raised about a certificate provider
