Icebergs – Visual Collaboration in the Cloud

ss-icebergs
Creative minds just work differently. Icebergs is a collaboration platform built for people who crave visual inspiration. Images, text, video, websites, and even files are all stored in one place, easily accessible for teams without being completely open for the public to view.

If you’re a designer, artist, journalist, filmmaker, architect or any other person whose mind works in a visual way, then Icebergs was created for you. Using the web plugin for Chrome, Safari, or Firefox, you can quickly clip content to add to your “Icebergs.” You can also drop your files from the cloud into your visual research, and jot down notes or thoughts to remind yourself what was important about a specific piece of content that you saved. Organize content however you see fit, highlighting whatever is most important to you and creating groups of “Icedrops” using Icebergs’ drag-and-drop tools. You can invite friends or colleagues to collaborate on your projects, and host discussions centered around specific Icedrops.

People who use Icebergs for both personal and professional purposes will want to create multiple accounts as a way to keep their projects and teams separated. Users also have the option to share single Icedrops or entire Icebergs with as many people as they want.

Practical Uses:

  • Save multiple websites, files, and notes in one place
  • Drag-and-drop content from your desktop into Icebergs for storage
  • Write down your thoughts next to any piece of content

Insider Tips:

  • Use the web plugin to quickly add content to your Icebergs
  • Iceberg’s web plugin is available on Safari, Chrome, and Firefox
  • Find uploaded content by date, file type, or keyword
  • Use the “Multiple Edit” feature to edit multiple Icedrops at once

What we liked:

  • Users can choose which pieces of content to highlight within an Iceberg
  • Group discussions can take place around specific pieces of content
  • Icebergs makes it easy for users to keep their content public or make it private
  • Admins have control over which collaborators have viewing privileges and which have editing privileges

What we didn’t like:

  • Only users with Business plans are able to create an unlimited number of Icebergs
