Bunker – Project Management for Freelancers

When you’ve got dozens of deadlines and daily tasks jotted down on a handful of messy to-do lists and Post-It notes, things are bound to get complicated. Bunker is a project management application and invoicing app that freelancers can use to stay organized and maintain a professional edge.

Bunker is a soup to nuts application, which means it manages every aspect of the business process from sending proposals and getting assignments, to doing the tasks necessary to complete those assignments, and ultimately sending invoices to get paid for completed work. Create professional-looking proposals using Bunker’s in-app tools, then turn those proposals into projects when they’ve been accepted by your clients. Like many other project management applications, Bunker lets you create task lists and milestones. You can also collaborate with clients by giving them their own credentials and login information. Bunker will automatically send you an email each time a client modifies a project you’ve created.

When your project is complete, head back to Bunker to create the invoice you’ll ultimately send out. Bunker offers a number of invoice templates, as well as time tracking and expense tracking tools. Invoices are automatically updated when clients pay through PayPal. Bunker can even be configured to charge different tax rates to different clients, based on their locations or project details.

Practical Uses:

  • Never miss an important project deadline
  • Send invoices based on the time you spent working on a project
  • Collaborate with clients who aren’t sure what they’re looking for
  • Track which clients have and haven’t paid their bills this month

Insider Tips:

  • Users can set up recurring invoicing
  • Bunker integrates with PayPal
  • Freelancers can create their own invoices or choose from one of Bunker’s templates
  • Bunker can be configured to work with different currencies and languages

What we liked:

  • Time tracking tools help freelancers prove how long they spent working on a project
  • Freelancers can see what they need to do for the day from their task feeds
  • Large projects can easily be broken down into major milestones and minor tasks
  • Invoices can be emailed as PDFs

What we didn’t like:

  • Clients can only pay directly if they pay through PayPal
