Ebates – Shop Online and Get (Some) of Your Money Back

At first, Ebates seems like it’s almost too good to be true. The website is free to use and they offer you money back on all purchases made through the site. You can pick from one of their stores (they have over 1,000), shop as you wish, and then wait for the rebate to kick in (it’s usually around 2-5% of your purchase). Ebates is a great idea—it’s putting money back into the hands of consumers, and when it works well, it’s a wonderful thing.

While there are still some bugs to work out (there have been some reports of users not receiving money that they should have, etc.) Ebates is still a great way to shop online. Sign up is required, but it’s free and quick to do. As a note, you need $5 before you’re eligible to get money back, and the payments are made quarterly. Signing up for PayPal (if you haven’t already) will simplify this process. In addition, if you’re looking to save even more money, make sure to pay attention to the extra discounts, coupons, and the fun features (like referring a friend for an extra $5).

Practical Uses:

  • Save on textbooks and other back to school supplies
  • Get money back on that new computer
  • Put the extra money into a saving’s account for future use
